I’m excited to share a recent interview I had with Eric David Lough, artist and founder of the Famous Beard Oil Company. I’ve been following Eric for a while and have been really intrigued…and impressed…with his work. I was curious about what keeps him motivated with his art and business venture so I sat down to talk with him. He’s based in Denver, Colorado so we did a phone interview. I have to say that if you have some idea that you have been thinking about, or some project you want to start, this is a great story to get inside the head of a guy who is out there every day creating and making his dream come true. And, if you have a beard, or know someone who does, the last 10 minutes will really interest you. So, have a listen and i hope you enjoy.

With the NFL football season coming to a close for all of the unlucky teams out there, I felt compelled to explore a topic that I've been fascinated with for years. And since The Give Voice Project is designed to showcase the extraordinary voices of everyday people, I wanted to know how a typical Cleveland Browns fan continues to be steadfast in their loyalty. They have suffered more than any other fan group that I know. Yet, in spite of year after year of season ending tragedies, they plug along. And I am one of them. I even put out a survey trying to understand what makes these diehard folks keep believing. Click on my audio blog to get a better understanding of fan loyalty.

I was introduced to yoga about 10 years ago. My first yoga experience was a lot more challenging than it probably should have been. I showed up really early with my brand new mat because I had no idea what to expect and wanted time to check out the place. Once I checked in and asked about a hundred questions, she told me to go in to the studio. I was 20 minutes early and asked what I was supposed to do in there for 20 minutes. The instructor politely said, "just sit on your mat." I asked for some magazines or something to read while I was waiting for class to start. She again told me to just go and 'sit.' It was an awkward 20 minutes. I didn't know what to do with my hands... my legs... my MIND. I was constantly looking for some stimuli to make my brain spin, because that's what it has been doing for the past 30 years- spinning. Class finally started, and an hour later, I was sold. It was the first time in my life I can remember ever being focused. My yoga has evolved over the past 10 years. And while it comes and goes in my life because I don't always go regularly; when I DO go, it is life-changing. I am able to, for the most part, comfortably sit on my mat and be still. Present. And while I don't exactly meditate, and anyone who knows me will say I could definitely benefit from more 'mindfulness in my life, I do by and large, 'get it.' I understand the powerful impact it can have in a person's life. A very good friend of mine has not only embraced mindfulness, she is taking it to a whole other level. She has co-founded Speak Your Soul, which helps people to not only create the space to 'be', but helps you take that off of the mat and into your every day world.
