Overcoming One of the Greatest Obstacles of All- Heartbreak

I think one of the toughest things to do in life is to put yourself out there.  I'm talking about going all in- wholeheartedly. Taking risks comes with a roller coaster ride of emotions and there is no guarantee that it works out in your favor.  But taking that risk and failing is, in my opinion, better than playing it safe and possibly missing out on some of the best life experiences. With heartbreak comes that depth of pain that hits you in your core; it rattles you, knocks the wind out of you, and you are left trying to put the pieces back together.
This young man took a huge risk.  He put himself out there, and while it didn't work out for him, he is putting the pieces back together through music.  This is what I'm talking about when I say "fostering resilience" in young people.  Learning how to overcome obstacles is key as we navigate this tough world and I think Jay here is on track, writing and creating, and putting himself out there no matter what people think- he is passionate and learning that failure can create something pretty cool.  I'm proud of this guy; although biased, I'm glad he gave me permission to share.  The lyrics are beautiful Jay, nice work.

The Leap of Faith

Sometimes it just takes one brave soul to make the leap so that others find the courage to move past their fear.  What seem like insurmountable obstacles are often tiny hurdles that, once overcome, offer the freedom to run wildly.  Or in this case, wobble on.  I hope you enjoy The Penguin Dilemma, I did.

This guy finally found his passion in life- the one thing that makes his world spin.  He gets hit with the worst news possible, but instead of falling apart and giving up, he does something remarkable.  He pushes himself to his absolute limit.  If you love the idea of sustainability, hand crafted products, and stories that inspires you to push through those shitty times, check out this Made By Hand film showcasing the incredible Ezra Caldwell from Fast Boy Cycles.  Made by Hand was created out of the belief that the things we collect, consume, use, and share are part of who we are as individuals.

I'm just trying to give voice to others- those who are doing what some may consider 'the impossible.'
